EMDR Intensives

Deep, Focused Trauma Healing — Without Long-Term Weekly Therapy

EMDR Intensives at Wellness Warrior Group offer a highly focused, accelerated approach to trauma healing for individuals who want meaningful progress in a shorter period of time.

Instead of moving slowly through weekly sessions, intensives provide a structured, extended format that allows you to step out of the start-and-stop cycle and into intentional, clinician-led work—designed to move the needle in days, not months.

What Is an EMDR Intensive?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Intensives are a concentrated format of therapy designed to support deeper processing within a contained timeframe.

Rather than meeting for a standard 50–55 minute weekly session, intensives use extended blocks (half-day or full-day) guided by a clear treatment plan. This format helps maintain therapeutic momentum while still prioritizing preparation, pacing, and nervous system regulation.

For more information about EMDR therapy, visit our general EMDR page.

Is an EMDR Intensive Right for You?

EMDR Intensives may be a good fit for those who:

  • Want to focus on a specific event or high-impact experience (e.g., accident, medical trauma, sudden loss)

  • Are working through complex or developmental trauma and want a more focused approach

  • Feel stuck in weekly therapy and are seeking a meaningful breakthrough

  • Have scheduling constraints (busy professionals, travel, limited availability)

  • Prefer a contained, structured therapeutic experience

A pre-screening consultation is required to determine whether the intensive format is clinically appropriate and aligned with your needs. In some cases, traditional weekly therapy or preparatory work may be recommended instead.

Benefits of the Intensive Format

Weekly therapy often loses momentum in the "start and stop" of 50-minute sessions. Intensives remove the overhead, allowing for:

  • Focused Momentum: Stay in the work without the seven-day gap.

  • Efficiency: Perfect for busy professionals and those with high-stakes schedules.

  • Deeper Continuity: More time for structured processing; less time re-orienting each week.

  • Personalized Pacing: A schedule designed around your capacity, not a clock.

How It Works: A Structured Path to Resolution

1. Clinical Assessment
We begin with a focused screening to understand your history, goals, and clinical readiness. This ensures the intensive format is safe, appropriate, and intentionally designed around your needs.

2. Nervous System Preparation
For some clients, preparatory support may be recommended to enhance regulation and safety. This can include somatic support or ketamine-assisted psychotherapy as optional add-ons—not requirements. (see below for more detail)

3. The EMDR Intensive
Extended, clinician-led EMDR sessions allow for deeper, uninterrupted processing. The work is carefully paced and targeted to your specific experiences and treatment goals.

4. Integration & Consolidation
We close with intentional integration—supporting nervous system settling, meaning-making, and stabilization so progress carries forward beyond the intensive.

Optional Pairings with EMDR-Intensive Therapy

  • EMDR Intensive Therapy

EMDR Intensives are the condensed, high-speed version of trauma processing. Instead of 50-minute weekly sessions where you just start to get deep before the clock runs out, an Intensive gives you 3 to 12 hours of focused work.

The Goal: To "reprocess" traumatic memories so they no longer trigger a physical or emotional "alarm" in your present life.

The Result: You bypass the "start-stop" fatigue of weekly therapy and achieve months of progress in just a few days.

  • Ketamine *Optional Add-On

At Wellness Warrior Group, we offer an advanced, integrative approach to trauma healing by pairing structured EMDR Intensives with Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP).

The Goal: To pair structured EMDR Intensives with Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for a powerful, synergistic effect that can access and heal deep-seated trauma.

The Result: It facilitates a more profound and comprehensive healing experience, often achieving results that might be difficult with either modality alone.

  • Body Work *Optional Add-On

Trauma isn't just a "thought"—it lives in your nervous system. Somatic Body Work (like NeuroAffective Touch and Breathwork) focuses on the physical sensations of stress.

The Goal: To calm your "survival brain" (fight/flight/freeze) so your body feels safe enough to actually engage in the deep work.

The Result: It expands your Window of Tolerance. It’s the "prep work" that ensures you don't get overwhelmed or "flooded" during the EMDR process.

Customized EMDR Intensive Plans & Investment

The depth and structure of your EMDR Intensive are guided by clinical need—not a preset package. During your pre-screening consultation, your clinician will assess your history, goals, and readiness to recommend a format that best supports safety, pacing, and meaningful progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • An EMDR Intensive is a structured, extended therapeutic experience designed to support deeper processing in a shorter timeframe than traditional weekly therapy. Instead of meeting for 50 minutes at a time, clients engage in longer sessions with built-in preparation, pacing, and integration.t goes here

  • Weekly therapy focuses on gradual progress over time. Intensives are designed for individuals who want a more focused, time-contained approach with dedicated space to work through specific goals or blocks. Both formats are effective—the best option depends on your needs, history, and readiness.

  • No. Intensives are not a fit for every person or every situation. Because this work is emotionally demanding, we carefully screen for readiness, safety, and support. In some cases, we may recommend traditional therapy or additional preparation instead.

  • Clients often seek intensives for high-impact experiences, chronic stress patterns, performance blocks, or moments of transition where they feel stuck despite insight or prior therapy.

  • For select clients, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy may be available as an optional, clinically guided support. This is discussed only after screening and is never required.  more info - https://www.wellnesswarriorgroup.com/ketamine-assisted-psychotherapy.html

  • The consultation is a focused conversation to understand your goals, history, and current support system. Together, we determine whether an intensive is appropriate and which format—if any—makes sense for you.
